Transmission of a FR-ALERT message as part of a nuclear safety exercise
As announced in our press release of 1 June 2026, Luxembourg will take part on 4th and 5th June 2026 in a large-scale exercise in the field of nuclear safety and civil protection. This exercise is organised by the French authorities at the Cattenom nuclear power plant (CNPE) and at the Moselle prefecture.
In this context, the French authorities plan to use the FR-ALERT system to broadcast an alert message via Cell Broadcast technology. Any person with a switched-on mobile phone located in the affected cross-border area may receive this message, regardless of their mobile operator or place of residence.
Please note that these alert messages are accompanied by a distinctive and intrusive warning sound.
The message will clearly indicate that it is part of an exercise and does not correspond to a real emergency situation.
No action is required from the public.
